Whew! dA has restored Barack Obama 01 and realitysquared sent me an apology. All is right with the world again.

Also, evanhwong was the reason it all went so smoothly. He was my advocate in the process from the beginning, aside from being the GD for the image. I've always thought of him as one of my good dA friends, but he really went out of his way for me here. Everyone should go show him some love

So that's really about it for now, not a whole lot else. Oh, I found these two quotes in an old journal I wrote about the Military Commissions Act of 2006. The juxtaposition is still quite striking to me, so I thought I'd share them again.

OH MY GOD.

I just resubmitted this as a scrap. dA says I stole this image and removed it.

This image had over 10,000 views and I think over 1,000 favourites, has been up for almost a year now and is part of a series that has been DD'ed on this site and published elsewhere.

No one contacted me first, to resolve the issue. I just got an automated note informing me of my theft of the image and that it was removed.

WTF dA? How can you not tell that this is my own image? There is so much evidence to suggest that it's actually mine. I am a professional photographer, I don't need to spend my time and effort on dA if I'm going to be treated like this - stealing my own work. My God.

That image still has the EXIF attached to it. You can clearly see that it was shot with the same 1D Mark II, down to the SERIAL NUMBER, that nearly everything else in my gallery was shot with. I also have the RAW file, with the same EXIF and I still have the 1DII. I can easily prove its mine... no one bothered to fucking ask me about it though.

This also means that somewhere else is what dA THINKS is the original. So now the ACTUAL theft is still up but my original is nixed.

I can't even convey how angry I am right now.

Hopefully the Help Desk gets back to me before the end of next week, but I am not hopeful. I've noted the proper staff member too, but nothing has been resolved yet.

Not a whole lot to say but thanks, many times over. evanhwong has featured one of my photographs today, this little rocker girl

Wow, this was a real treat to wake up to today. First the election, now this. evanhwong is the best

I have about 800 images from the celebrations last night. Dancing in the street, spontaneous marches, elation the likes of which I have not seen ever before. I will try to have them up shortly.

That's right. I managed to finagle my name onto the short list for tonight's Obama rally in Madison WI. It'll a good one, it's being held at the Kohl Center downtown, and it's supposed to be a capacity crowd (around 17000 people... the city of madison is only 200,000)

So hopefully I'll end up with some pretty awesome shots of the rally and the very probably next president of the US.

I've got some work to do now before I head downtown, I'll see you all later.

Well, I received my second Daily Deviation today, much to my surprise. Winter's really had me down lately, and ironically my image "Le Fumeur Solitaire," a manifestation of all things cold and depressing.

Well, thanks to all of you who showed your support and appreciation for it before the DD, and after. I'm pretty satisfied with it, I think it's a solid piece of street photography and social commentary, and I'm really glad you all do too.
